Rituals
Living with the seasons in Pretoria

Traditional practice never treated the body as a fixed thing. What you need in a dry July is not what you need in a humid January, and our grandmothers adjusted without thinking about it.
Winter on the Highveld
Dry air, dust and cold mornings. This is tea season — soursop leaf, neem and lemongrass, hibiscus — plus richer topicals for skin that cracks. Warm, steamy and hydrating is the theme.
Spring
The dust lifts and everything blooms. A good moment for a gentle cleansing course: chlorophyll or neem for a few weeks, more water, lighter food.
Summer
Heat and sweat mean minerals leave the body faster. Sea moss, baobab and hibiscus served cool do the double work of hydrating and replacing what you lose.
Autumn
Build reserves before the cold. Moringa daily, collagen for skin, ashwagandha as the year's demands pile up.
None of this needs to be complicated. One remedy, one ritual, adjusted four times a year, will serve you better than a cupboard full of good intentions.
